I am an educator and ecologist, with many years of business experience. I have been an adjunct in the Department of Geological Sciences at Central Connecticut for the last three years, specializing in environmental geology and the Anthropocene. I have a strong interest in geoscience teaching, having received three part-time faculty grants in support of instructional improvement in the last two years. These have included travel grants to the National Geoscience Teaching Conference in Madison, Wisconsin (2016) and American Geophysical Union workshop on using GPS to improve geodesy instruction (2017), and a grant to build an Augmented Reality Sandbox (2016-2017). The AR Sandbox is designed to aid and improve student understanding of topographic maps. I am also the co-author of a study utilizing a mobile phone app to improve student topographic mapping abilities, and just published a letter in Science. I have accomplished all of this in a very short time, having had substantial business obligations which until recently, prevented me from pursuing my academic career.
