Abstract
This colloquium brings together the Editor of “Meridians: feminism, race, transnationalism” (Duke University Press) and select contributors whose essays have offered innovative critical readings of and alternatives to conventional curatorial practices at museums in the Americas, Australia, and Europe. These interventions range offer perspectives rooted in feminist African American and Afro-diasporic, Latin American and Caribbean, Aboriginal and Indigenous, and de-colonial feminist epistemologies, ontologies, methodologies, philosophy and theory. As such, they exemplify how intersectional feminist analyses contribute importantly to contemporary museum studies work, and the role of interdisciplinary feminist journals such as “Meridians: feminism, race, transnationalism” play not only in advancing those contributions, but bringing museum studies to broader audiences.
