From Coping to Thriving - Behavioral Health Skills That Strengthen Emotional and Social Well-Being: A Transformational Framework for Elevating Wellness Through Mind-Body Alignment

Abstract

For many individuals, especially high-achieving women and those carrying the weight of trauma, behavioral health often becomes synonymous with survival. This presentation shifts the lens from merely coping with stressors to intentionally cultivating emotional, social, and physical thriving. Grounded in clinical practice, trauma-informed principles, and mind-body alignment, this session introduces an accessible behavioral health framework that integrates emotional regulation, lifestyle redesign, and nervous system, supportive practices. Participants will explore how chronic stress, maladaptive coping patterns, and intergenerational trauma disrupt emotional well-being and daily functioning. Through guided reflection and experiential exercises, attendees will learn how to apply evidence-based skills, including grounding strategies, somatic awareness, cognitive reframing, and resilience-building habits, to interrupt survival-mode behaviors and foster emotional clarity, self-efficacy, and relational health. This workshop also highlights the behavioral determinants that directly influence long-term wellness, such as sleep hygiene, stress processing, movement practices, nutrition behaviors, and boundary-setting. Emphasis is placed on reducing barriers to care and offering practical tools that can be integrated into clinical work, community programming, and personal wellness routines. Ultimately, this presentation demonstrates how intentional behavioral health skills can support individuals not only in managing life’s pressures but in creating aligned, sustainable, and purpose-driven lives. By reframing wellness as a holistic system—where emotional, physical, and social well-being are interconnectedparticipants will leave equipped with strategies to help themselves and their communities thrive.
