From Smart Machines to Wise Societies - HumanIQ™ as a Framework for Human-Centered AI Literacy: Reimagining AI Literacy Through Emotional, Ethical, and Adaptive Intelligence

Abstract

Artificial intelligence now mediates how we learn, create, and collaborate, redefining what it means to be human in a knowledge society. Yet conversations about AI transformation often privilege technology over the human capacities that make ethical and meaningful progress possible. This session introduces HumanIQ™, a multidimensional framework for cultivating human capability in an AI-augmented world. The purpose of this study is to examine how five interdependent intelligences—emotional, ethical, adaptive, relational, and digital—support human-centered approaches to AI literacy, learning, and leadership. Using qualitative analysis of applied research drawn from higher-education teaching, professional-development workshops, and community AI literacy initiatives, the study explores how HumanIQ™ principles strengthen reflective practice and ethical awareness in both educators and learners. These initiatives include faculty sessions on responsible generative-AI use and community programs helping adults and seniors build digital confidence. Across contexts, findings reveal that embedding HumanIQ™ into pedagogy and workplace learning cultivates collaborative intelligence, empathy, and a shared moral vocabulary for technology use. The implications extend to curriculum design, institutional policy, and organizational culture. By prioritizing human capacities as the foundation for digital transformation, HumanIQ™ reframes AI as a partner in meaning-making rather than a substitute for human expertise. It offers a strategic model for moving from “smart machines” that optimize efficiency to “wise societies” that humanize progress.
