The Emerging Gender Order: A Critical Analysis of Globalization's Impacts

Abstract

Globalization, as a multidimensional and complex process, has profoundly transformed economic, political, and cultural systems worldwide. This phenomenon, which transcends geographical and social boundaries, has not only influenced macro-structures of power but has also reshaped social orders, including the gender order. Gender, as one of the most fundamental factors of social organization, has undergone a redefinition of identities, roles, and power relations in response to the processes of globalization. In the era of globalization, on the one hand, communication technologies and digital media have created opportunities for identity fluidity, the redefinition of gender roles, and resistance to gender stereotypes. On the other hand, this process has often reinforced gender inequalities, reproduced traditional roles, and imposed new pressures on women and gender minorities. Amidst these dynamics, a new gender order is emerging, challenging the boundaries between traditional and modern roles and introducing new norms into contemporary societies under the influence of globalization. This research focuses on the consequences of globalization, examining the new gender order and illustrating how this process simultaneously generates opportunities for redefining gender equality and justice while presenting structural and cultural challenges. The aim of this study is to provide an analysis of the interaction between globalization and gender and to explore the role of this new order in shaping social relations on a global scale.
