Abstract
Social media has become an effective tool in shaping and expanding social and political movements in recent years. This research addresses the question of how social media can play a role in informing and organizing social and political movements, examining the impact of these tools in accelerating and strengthening such movements. The research methodology is based on documentary analysis and secondary analysis. For this purpose, written and online sources, including books, scientific articles, and credible research reports, have been utilized. Additionally, secondary data analysis includes reviewing and analyzing the results of previous studies on the impact of social media on social and political movements. Case studies such as the Arab Spring and social protests in recent years in Iran are highlighted as prominent examples. The results of this study indicate that social media, by providing extensive and rapid communication platforms, especially during times of crisis, has helped accelerate the organization and coordination of social movements. These networks have increased public awareness by reducing communication costs and creating space for diverse and opposing viewpoints. As a result, social media has acted as an effective tool for mobilizing the public and enhancing transparency, playing a significant role in the success and expansion of social and political movements. These findings emphasize the importance of the smart use of social media in the processes of social and political change.
