Developing an Environmental, Social, and Governance Framework for a Port

Abstract

This research aims to develop a tailored Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework for Sabah Port, addressing the growing need for sustainable practices in port operations. The study focuses on assessing current ESG practices at Sabah Port, identifying key gaps, and proposing an effective framework that aligns with international sustainability standards. Using a combination of surveys and interviews with port stakeholders, the research collects insights on the existing environmental, social, and governance challenges faced by the port. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of how ESG principles can be integrated into port operations to improve sustainability outcomes and ensure long-term operational viability.
