Abstract
Valenzuela city was once ranked as the second safest city in Southeast Asia in 2018. This study was conducted to see if this recognition matched the experience of the residents in Barangay Bignay, Valenzuela City through CCTV and streetlights in the Barangay. Using a qualitative approach, convenience sampling, and survey questionnaires the study found that CCTV and streetlights have a big effect on the safety and security of the residents. The study also found that Barangay needs more CCTV, streetlights, and consistent maintenance. Even though their responses did not exactly match the city’s recognition, their shared experience and suggestions can be a big contribution to the local government to fill their gaps in making the residents feel safe and secure all the time.
