Integrating Artificial Intelligence into E-Learning as an Innovative Model for Undergraduate Students’ Technology Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development in Nigeria

Abstract

The study focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into e-learning as an innovative model for technology skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development among undergraduate students in Nigeria. Correlational research design was employed for the study. The population of the study was 86 students of Technology Education. Total population was employed for the study. Questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated by the experts and the reliability of the instrument was established using Cronbach alpha at 0.808 reliability coefficient. Three research questions and two hypotheses were formulated. Data were collected through the administration of the questionnaire to the respondents. The research questions were analyzed using mean statistic with the help of Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23. The hypotheses were tested using Pearson Product Moment Correlation at 0.05 level of significance. Findings in accordance to research questions and hypotheses revealed amongst other that there was no significant relationship between the skills acquired by technology students in real-life construction and students’ entrepreneurship development in Nigerian Universities. Also, it was found that practical skills possessed by the respondents in real-life construction was low, while the exposure of the respondents to industrial training in learning real-life construction was high. Recommendations were made based on the findings, which included among others that curriculum of technology education should be designed in such a way that it will prepare the students with enough practical skills in real-life construction ahead so that they can be self-employed after graduation.
