Professional Development Program for Enhancing Pre-service Teachers’ Technological Content Knowledge in Teaching about Physical Education

Abstract

Integrated technology for teaching about physical education would visualize and motivate students to learn to play sports like football, tennis, volleyball, boxing and so on. The paper clarifies the professional development program for enhancing pre-service teachers’ technological pedagogical content knowledge in teaching about physical education (PD-TPACK for PE). The participants included 20 pre-service teachers who enrolled in school internship, Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, Thailand. Highlights of PD-TPACK for PE include the flipped classroom approach; game scenarios of virtual reality; peer teaching and observation; technology-enhanced teaching methods; using tools and software for data analysis and performance tracking in sports; designing and implementing simulations related to football, tennis, and volleyball; designing classroom research regarding TPACK; and mentorship program for giving feedback on their journey to develop TPACK for teaching sports.
