Exploring the Role of Social and Family Milieus on Children Learning: An Islamic Perspective

Abstract

This research investigates the significant impact of family and social milieu on early childhood learning, particularly within the framework of Islamic teachings. Drawing upon the inclusive literature review, this study explores various factors within the communal and domestic settings that shape children’s personalities and educational practices as well as their future success. These factors include socioeconomic status, peer affiliation, cultural norms and parental engrossment etc. Addressing the research question, “How do family dynamics, cultural context and social variables influence the children’s ethical development and learning modes from an Islamic perspective?” the study employs a qualitative and analytical methodology. Data is gathered through research and observations conducted within Islamic communities, while also considering insights from Islamic teachings that emphasize the importance of nurturing a positive family and social environment for effective learning outcomes in children. The findings highlight the collaborative effects of ancestral and communal contexts on children’s cognitive and learning development. The study delves into how Islamic teachings contribute to children’s holistic development, ethical guidance and effective learning across various religious and cultural settings. It is concluded that children’s early childhood education both at home and in educational settings plays a significant role in shaping future development and lifelong learning trajectories. The study recommends further efforts to promote Islamic norms and values within family environments and educational policies to optimize learning outcomes and facilitate the holistic growth of children.
