Abstract
Today’s leaders are challenged more than ever, and leadership development must find new ways of guiding leaders to handle these new demands. Thus the process of growing leaders by the use of mere lecture and launch must be addressed. While leaders expect high-quality ideas and this is good, they also need approaches that help learning to go deeper—to support more personal and lasting change. Experiential learning has emerged as a powerful learning approach that fosters deeper understanding, critical thinking, and skill development. During this workshop, we will introduce a new experiential learning model that builds on classic experiential learning approaches and integrates other models such as social learning, collaborative learning, reflective practice, emotional intelligence, servant leadership, and positive psychology. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the approach and how it can be applied to their learning contexts. Through interactive activities and real-life use cases, participants will have the opportunity to experience the learning model firsthand. They will be exposed to new ideas, new people, and new ways of personalizing new ideas for increased application and implementation. By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with principles, practical strategies, and resources to integrate a new level of experiential learning into their leadership development activities and in other learning contexts.
