Abstract
Research on human potential and capabilities has recently gained attention within human rights campaigns and globalization frameworks. It is a crucial issue emphasising the significance of knowledge, inclusive pedagogy, and social change through participatory and emancipatory approaches. By integrating inclusive research methodologies, this study underscores the collective potential for positive social transformation and the benefits of recognized diversity in human abilities. The study also examines the role of art education in spreading sociocultural inclusion by raising awareness, providing factual information, and practical application of creative thinking. The research includes three relevant case studies applied to student-teachers from the Education Department of the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Analytically, the cases refer to Albinism: Awareness through knowledge, ‘Vision’ in Visual Arts: Inclusion through participation, and The Art of Mouth Painting: Empirical knowledge through creation. Each case is discussed from conceptualization to realization regarding the pedagogical strategies employed, limitations and challenges faced in implementing inclusive approaches, and assessment of the achieved outcomes.
