Creating Belongingness in the Classroom: One Class at a Time

Abstract

There is more and more research that explains how creating a sense of belonging in the classroom can help students to do better. I decided to try it out by changing my course syllabus and adding in some elements of belongingness. This paper addresses the research that helped me decide which elements to change, how it went, what worked and what didn’t and implications for future.
