Revitalizing Agricultural Awareness among Education Students

Abstract

The staple food in the Philippine islands since time immemorial is rice. Over time, countless rice fields were transferred as subdivisions for mass housing and government infrastructure. Many farmers have sold their parcels of rice fields and most of them abandoned farming. The study was conducted to revive the agricultural awareness of education students. It aims to revive agricultural awareness among education students through curriculum and extracurricular activities. Mix methods research was applied in order to triangulate the data through a survey questionnaire and focus group discussions. The results point out that through enhanced curriculum and extra-curricular activities, students’ enthusiasm towards agriculture is revived.
