Abstract
This study explores how dilemmas in decision-making hinder the provision of quality education in community schools in Nepal. The stories in the study were gathered by using in-depth interviews with principals from community schools. The participants were chosen for the study based on their diverse backgrounds, population of students in school, academic performance, geographical landscape, leadership styles, natural disposition, etc. The lived narratives were interpreted through the lens of multiple ethical paradigms: the ethic of care, justice, critique, and profession. The stories of principals were built into the theme: Political ideological orientation versus social justice, political power versus the rights of children, responsibility ethics versus accountability, and output versus process. The study explored that the dilemmas of the principal have been attributed to the hindrance to delivering quality education in community schools in Nepal.
