Abstract
This workshop begins with a demonstration of how a choice system in scaffolding assignments encourages students to develop self-efficacy. I demonstrate how building community/using groups in this process adds to the students’ experiences and increases peer learning. Attendees will be able to see how using an LMS (Canvas in this case) simplifies the process and allows students a way to see their own development over time. These steps encourage students to feel empowered by the process, leaving them able to consider their future development as a positive possibility. This process could be adapted to work for younger learners but is currently used with first-year college students.
