Abstract

This paper proposes a new index—the Age Policy Index (API)—that can be used to assess countries’ efforts to support healthy, productive, and protected aging. The index monitors the progress of reforms and policies targeting older adults, identifying areas or sectors for priority interventions. The paper presents the theoretical foundations of the index, provides the indicators used to construct it, and illustrates its use by applying the index to Romania and Serbia.
