Reframing Public Policy and Societal Perspectives: Bridging Gaps in Aging for Sustainable and Inclusive Communities

Abstract

As global populations age at unprecedented rates, public policy and societal attitudes toward older adults play a critical role in building inclusive, equitable, and sustainable societies. This paper examines the intersection of public policies and public perspectives on aging, highlighting their influence on healthcare systems, social inclusion, economic sustainability, and intergenerational solidarity. Despite demographic shifts, aging is often addressed through fragmented and reactive policies, while societal perceptions contribute to persistent ageism and policy inertia. This research adopts an interdisciplinary framework to analyze public policies, explore societal attitudes, and identify actionable strategies to create age-inclusive communities. By integrating qualitative and quantitative insights, along with international case studies, this study emphasizes the importance of human dignity, participatory policy design, and long-term social stability. This study focuses on the evolving role of policies, shifting societal perceptions, and the integration of inclusive frameworks for age-friendly societies.
