Abstract
Sangam literature is a rich and vibrant corpus of Tamil poetry that encapsulates the social, cultural, and emotional landscape of ancient Tamil Nadu. Akam poetry, a subgenre of Sangam literature, is particularly renowned for its exploration of love and its depiction of the human condition. Galician Troubadour poetry emerged as a distinct literary tradition in northwestern Spain which had a profound impact on European Literature. It is characterized by its intricate rhyme schemes, sophisticated melodies, and themes of courtly love. This comparative research explores the intriguing parallels and contrasts between Akam poetry and the Galician Troubadour poetry. By examining these two distinct poetic traditions, the study seeks to identify thematic commonalities and divergences, and investigate the influence of cultural and historical contexts. Employing a comparative literary analysis approach, the research closely examines representative poems from both Akam and Troubadour traditions for the themes of love and longing. The outcomes of this research include a deeper understanding of thematic richness, and the identification of cross-cultural connections, thereby contributing to the field of comparative literary studies.
