Edited Worlds, Forged Narratives: Investigating the Future of Writing the Self Through Images in Digital Narratives

Abstract

The research analyzes the role of Image in electronic environments in the 21st Century, especially how subjects write about themselves in an autobiographical practice, through photos, videos, emojis and stickers, among others. Thus, through bibliographic review and case study analysis, the work explores and epistemologically reflects on the future of writing by observing contemporary digital Visual Culture and its most recent manifestations. Therefore, problematize the life-narrative construction through image editing and fictionalizing tools, such as artificial intelligence and filters that modify and/or create online self-representations.
