The Social Crisis and Its Impact on Inequality in Ecuador in 2023

Abstract

At present, Ecuador is going through serious problems of social crisis, giving way to a real economic crisis, creating and leaving inequality gaps, causing damage to the welfare of the population, going against the Universal Human Rights. This inequality tends to be demonstrated in many aspects such as: access to justice, health services, quality education, differences in facing natural disasters, pandemics, among others. The present work considers social crisis and its impact on inequality in Ecuador in the year 2023, especially with the aim of contributing to alleviate the social crisis that Ecuador is going through, which is why conceptual frameworks, variables, methodological bases, as well as literature review were investigated; in relation to its methodology, the quantitative and qualitative approach is used, under the analytical method, and it is based on historical data, using documentary research. The results of this research show that the current social crisis has deepened inequality in Ecuador, seriously affecting the population, especially in terms of the well-being of each citizen. Consequently, inequality gives way to poverty, and public policies are needed to eradicate the social crisis and thus social injustice, leaving a population in absolute precariousness. Alarm bells are ringing on the economic aspect, and especially on income distribution as well as the distribution of material resources and exclusion. Understanding that the social crisis hits hard the vulnerable groups in the rights that correspond to them as human beings such as: education, health and physical care.
