Abstract
The purpose of this study is to understand the feelings of Floridian residents regarding plastic consumption in their state. The researcher supports a general ban on single-use carryout packaging (SUCP), and therefore believe that understanding Floridians’ narratives contribute greatly to devising the best courses of action for public policy. A robust literature review is conducted, building upon the principles of environmentalism, political literature, and theoretical grounding in the interpretive tradition. Following the literature review, the method section describes the research question, instruments for collection, data management techniques, and an interview guide for collecting participant responses. In the analysis section, themes found will be defined and explained, as well as codes discovered. Following the analysis, in the discussion section, relationships between themes and prior literature are established, while discussing implications for a possible SUCP ban in the state of Florida. Finally, research limitations and a cohesive summary round out the study.
