Abstract
This paper explores the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on contemporary artistic practices, challenging traditional notions of creativity and authorship. As AI tools become increasingly sophisticated, they offer artists new mediums for expression, enabling the generation of works that blend human intuition with machine learning algorithms. From generative art and AI-assisted music composition to interactive installations, AI is not merely a tool but a collaborator in the creative process. This convergence prompts critical questions: How do we define creativity in a landscape where machines can autonomously generate art? What does it mean for an artwork to be “authored” by an algorithm? Moreover, as AI-driven art gains prominence, ethical considerations emerge regarding originality, ownership, and the potential for algorithmic biases to influence artistic outcomes. This paper critically examines these issues, drawing on case studies of AI-integrated art projects and interviews with artists who incorporate AI into their work. By situating AI within the broader historical context of technological innovation in art, this study seeks to understand how AI is reimagining creativity, reshaping artistic practices, and what this means for the future of art in a rapidly evolving digital world.
