Art and Healing: How Art Transforms the Wellbeing of Individuals and Communities

Abstract

Art can be a powerful tool in the healing process, for both individuals and communities. Some of the benefits of using art as a healing tool are: provides an outlet for feelings, reduces stress and tension, builds self-esteem, increases feelings of safety, relaxation and aids in the mental health of individuals and communities. This hands-on workshop will allow participants to engage in art-based therapeutic experiences. This workshop will introduce participants to art activities that can enhance individual self-awareness and healing. These art activities can be used in individual and community settings.
