Abstract
This study presents a groundbreaking design matrix that integrates design semantics and user value metrics, offering invaluable insights for both Industrial Design students and novice practitioners. The proposed value measurement matrix establishes a structured framework for analyzing user and market attributes, guiding the formulation of well-suited design solutions. Design semantics serves as a compass, steering the development of a cohesive design language that aligns with the value matrix. The application of this matrix not only streamlines the creation process but also enhances the potential market success of products. This innovative value matrix empowers students and emerging design professionals to make well-informed decisions during the initial phases of design development. By utilizing the matrix, these designers can proactively identify critical design variables that pertain to specific product categories, whether they are embarking on a new design venture or revamping an existing product for diverse markets and user segments. The matrix encompasses key facets of successful product design, encompassing form language, design semantics, functional requisites, user experience, and environmental sustainability. These conceptual frameworks provide a solid foundation for articulating and shaping intelligent design choices. Furthermore, by systematically considering the environmental impact of design decisions, this matrix aligns with contemporary concerns related to sustainability and responsible design practices.
