Abstract
The renewal and transformation of the art market through mediatization phenomena are inseparable from concurrent cultural, social, and economic shifts. Contemporary art market speculation, driven by symbolic and conceptual re-signification processes, prompts significant changes in valuing art. On one hand, these changes impact the methodologies for assessing art, prompting struggles within the artistic work itself concerning its materiality, property value, and visuality. On the other hand, these shifts jeopardize the cultivation of individuality, agency, and our perception of place. Authentic experience is increasingly questioned amidst new formulations of identity and non-identity, place and non-place, propelled by rapid developments and complex technological foundations capable of reshaping behavior, thought processes, connections, and the exposure of the subjective self to others and the world, altering the way we perceive it.
