Abstract

This study explores the conceptual impact of urbanization on human emotions through the lens of visual design. It is anchored by the research question, how might variations in line quality and medium in visual design conceptually represent and convey emotional states in the context of urbanization? Employing a range of image resources, including travel photographs and daily life snapshots, the researchers analyze the emotive essence of lines. These visual explorations are further enriched by a theoretical review of contemporary neurourbanism, underscoring the significant role of visual design elements in urban contexts. The study reveals a conceptual correlation between line quality and form in visual design and the emotional narratives they convey within urban environments. This finding emphasizes the potential of visual design to conceptually represent and enhance emotional well-being in urban settings. Moreover, the researchers advocate for the practical integration of findings in urban planning and design, encouraging collaborative efforts between designers and artists to craft urban spaces that are emotionally engaging and resonant.
