Abstract

The main goal of this article is to examine the immigration topic. It examined two political articles with both Democratic and Republican agendas through the analysis that adheres to the analytical model of critical discourse analysis (CDA). By analyzing two articles in the field of political agenda and immigration, this article explored the mechanisms of language application to the Siders and DNC articles. Mechanisms were used to reveal the ideology behind immigration and discrimination in the text, whether it was placed consciously or subconsciously. Through the unpacking of these articles, the reader is able to discern and understand the manipulation tactics that continue to plague society through the creation and perpetuation of discrimination, bias, and xenophobia.
