A New Model of Education in International Trade Policy
Abstract
This paper proposes a new interdisciplinary academic program at the undergraduate level, which could replace the lack of formal education in the field of international trade policy in Canada. The model can also be extended to other countries in a straight forward manner. The proposed program attempts to encompass various subjects in major related fields in international trade policy education including business, Canadian studies, economics, environmental studies, history, international relations, law, political science, and sociology. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the program, it needs a collegial cooperation of several academic departments. The paper also provides some policy recommendations for higher education in the various fields related to the international trade policy.
